Location Services
Location sharing helps responders find you during emergencies. Here's how Guardian-X uses your location:
When Location is Used
- When you activate a duress alert
- When reporting your status during emergencies
- For location-based alert filtering
Privacy Protection
- Location is only shared during active emergencies
- You control when location is transmitted
- Data is encrypted and only visible to authorized responders
Offline Capabilities
Guardian-X is designed to work even with limited connectivity:
- Message Queuing: Messages are queued when offline and sent automatically when connection is restored
- Local Cache: Recent alerts and situation information are cached locally
- Auto-Reconnect: The app automatically reconnects when network becomes available
- Offline Status: You can prepare status responses offline that send when connected
Battery Optimization
Guardian-X is designed to be battery-efficient while remaining always ready:
Uses minimal battery while maintaining alert capability
Uses WebSocket for efficient real-time updates
GPS only activates when needed, not continuously
Common Issues
Not receiving notifications?
Check that notifications are enabled in both the app settings AND your device settings. On Android, ensure battery optimization is disabled for Guardian-X.
App shows "Disconnected"?
Check your internet connection. Try switching between WiFi and mobile data. If the issue persists, try force-closing and reopening the app.
Location not updating?
Ensure location permissions are set to "While Using" or "Always" in your device settings. Check that location services are enabled on your device.
High battery usage?
This is unusual. Try reinstalling the app. If issues persist, contact support - there may be a connectivity issue causing excessive reconnection attempts.
